A Busy, Somewhat Splintered Week
Lately, it has been hot. Too hot for me to spend any significant amount of time outdoors. As a result, I have been feeling a bit discombobulated; doing a little bit of a lot of different things.
One of the nicest was a lovely 52nd-anniversary dinner with my sweet husband. We traveled about 30 minutes to the old downtown of a small county seat. The restaurant is just off the town square that used to be standard for all small towns… surely, you know the type I mean.
The walls were the original brick; there were very high ceilings and concrete floors. A pleasant musician provided music, the service was very good, and the food was delicious. It was a very pleasant, relaxing evening.
I am back working at my quilt. I keep thinking I am almost done, but there is always another part to finish. Sigh.
I planted some cilantro indoors, because it doesn’t care for the heat either. This way I will have some available for cooking, hopefully for longer than a couple of weeks.
Using some of the bounty from my husband’s tomato plants, I attempted tomato sauce in the slow cooker. I added fresh basil, parsley, and rosemary from my garden. Haven’t tried it yet but may do that tomorrow.
Watched a lot of soccer (am going to miss this) and was glad to see Spain win the World Cup. Have been doing yoga most mornings. Catching up with Masterpiece Theater’s Sherlock Holmes series.
And have spent a lot of lovely time with the family, which is wonderful. Hope you are able to have as much fun as I and remain cool in the process.
