Happy Earth Day!
Today is the 56th anniversary of Earth Day. Best wishes to all of us earthlings!
I have fond memories of my own participation in the first Earth Day, and less fond memories of the sunburn I am sure I endured. Each year I do my best to remember the importance of Planet Earth, our island home. To us and to all the flora and fauna that share the planet with us.
This year, I organized a celebration of Earth Day. We made nature bracelets and bee hotels, planted zinnia seeds to provide nectar for butterflies, and performed an Earth Day rap. Naturally, we had cookie cake.
You don’t have to have an organized event to take care of Mother Earth. You can reduce, reuse, and recycle. Eat less meat. Walk or ride a bike when you can. Carry a water bottle with you. Go for a walk. Listen to and watch for songbirds. Take photographs of nature. Plant a tree.

Your Mother thanks you.
